Leukemia Cup Regatta 2018

AYC Leukemia Cup

It was a great weekend sailing in the Arizona Yacht Club’s Leukemia Cup & Birthday Regatta, benefiting The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS).

The LLS History

For nearly 31 years, participants have been sailing, powerboating, and paddling in communities throughout the country in support of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Individuals form fundraising teams and the team that raises the most in their community receives the coveted Leukemia Cup.

All events help to fund life-saving research and treatment for blood cancers. Over $66 million has been raised since the first Leukemia Cup in 1988.

Arizona’s Commitment

The Arizona Yacht Club has been hosting an annual Leukemia Cup Regatta for over 10 years. The event is usually brimming with over 200 sailors, shore crew, and 70+ boats.

Unique Desert Sailing

Participants sail in exclusive Arizona offerings including the often cloudless blue skies and the seemingly infinite Black Mountains near Castle Hot Springs, Buzzard Neck and Humbug Bay. Later in the evening, the desert sky fills up with stars and sailors celebrate between the saguaro and ocotillo. The burros and coyotes can be heard in the distance. All this is just 45 minutes northwest of downtown Phoenix on Lake Pleasant.
